Spirit Financial Credit Union

Born in Fairless Hills: 70 years of hometown banking

Posted

Long before Spirit Financial Credit Union, there was the Fairless Employees Credit Union, founded in 1953 to serve the men and women who built America's steel in the U.S. Steel’s Fairless Works. Seven decades later, we're still right here, still owned by the people we serve, and still rooted in the same Lower Bucks community where it all began.

A lot has changed since 1953. The steel mills have given way to new industries. Our neighborhoods have grown. Banking offers more options than ever. Through it all, our mission has stayed exactly the same: helping working families in this community build, save, and plan for what comes next.

Our name has evolved alongside our membership. We opened our charter to all of Bucks County in 2005 and adopted the Spirit Financial name in 2016. It's a vision bigger than any single employer, but still driven by the spirit of our founding members.

Spirit Financial remains independent, locally controlled, and committed to keeping decisions, profits, and priorities right here in Bucks County, exactly where our members want them.

Today, we offer everything you'd expect from a modern financial institution. What you won't find are rotating faces or distant decision-makers. Just neighbors who know your name, and a real person on the other end of the line when you need one. It's why so many of our members have been with us for decades, and why their children and grandchildren are members too.

If you live, work, worship, or attend school in Bucks County, you're eligible to join. Stop by 8535 New Falls Road in Levittown, call 267-580-0230, or visit spiritfinancialcu.org.
