Exploring Your Lens Options for Cataract Surgery

At Eye Associates of Bucks County (EABC), we’re proud to help our neighbors protect and improve their vision. For individuals with cataracts, surgery is often the next step toward achieving clearer vision. What many people don’t know is that there is more than one type of lens that can be placed during surgery, each offering unique benefits.

Standard vs. Premium Lenses
Cataract surgery replaces your cloudy natural lens with an artificial one. A standard lens, covered by insurance, restores clear vision; however, it often still requires wearing glasses after surgery.

Premium Lenses (IOLs) go a step further. They’re designed to reduce or even eliminate the need for glasses by correcting vision at multiple distances or addressing astigmatism. While surgery is covered by insurance, these lenses are considered an upgrade and involve an additional out-of-pocket cost.

The Light Adjustable Lens
A newer option, the Light Adjustable Lens, is the only lens that can be adjusted after surgery. Using special light treatments in our office, we can fine-tune your vision until it’s just right for you, providing the most precise, customized result possible.

Personalized Choices
Our surgeons take the time to discuss your lifestyle, goals, and all available lens options so you can choose the one that’s right for you.
