Fairless Hills Elk member Lydia Devlin was selected as Grand Marshall for Morrisville Borough’s Memorial Day Parade. Lydia has dedicated over 40- years of volunteerism to our community. The Elks are extremely proud to have her represent their lodge. The Morrisville Parade was held on Monday, May 26.

Following the parade’s closing ceremony, newly renovated Fairless Hills Elks Lodge #2023 opened its doors to the public, inviting visitors to tour the facility and learn more about the Elks’ mission. Refreshments and food were provided for all guests.

During this time, the Fairless Hills Elks honored Morrisville resident Navy Veteran Chief Petty Officer Richard Costelow who died in the line of duty approximately 25 years ago. Costelow was serving as a Chief Electronics Technician aboard the USS Cole when a terrorist bomb was detonated along the port side of the ship during refueling in Aden, Yemen, on October 12, 2000. He was among the 17 sailors killed in the attack.

The Elks presented, what is now the first hometown hero flag in Morrisville, to Morrisville Mayor Gary Wallace, which will be the first to fly in honor of the new Patriot’s Park near historic Summerseat, the temporary house of George Washington prior to the battle of Trenton where he crossed the Delaware River.

Former Pennsylvania Congressman/Former Under Secretary of the Army Patrick Murphy was the day’s guest speaker. The Elks hosted the Costelow family as their honorees, recognizing Officer Costelow’s sisters, Lynn Costelow-Demurio and Pat Costelow-Ryan, during the day of this event.

Alex Mauro from Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick’s office presented Lynn, Pat , and Lydia flags that had been flown over the White House.

The Fairless Hills Elks Lodge is committed to promoting and practicing the four cardinal virtues of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity. The organization actively supports veterans, youth programs, and community service initiatives, while fostering a strong sense of
