Temperatures are expected to approach 103 degrees by Thursday, with the heat index reaching as high as 110.

As the Fourth of July and America 250 celebrations heat up, a dangerous heat advisory is in effect throughout Bucks County beginning Wednesday, July 1, and continuing through Saturday, July 4.

The heatwave is predicted to bring with it some of the highest temperatures Bucks County has seen in decades. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to approach 103 degrees by Thursday, with the heat index reaching as high as 110.

Bucks County has issued an Excessive Heat Warning from 8 a.m Wednesday extending through Sunday evening in response to the extreme heat expected to linger through the holiday weekend.

The community is urged to limit/avoid outdoor activities for the next four days; if you must be outside, drink plenty of fluids, preferably water, and avoid caffeine and alcohol, health officials said.

People are urged to stay indoors and take advantage of the air conditioning. Local officials are reminding neighbors to check on anyone who may need extra care, particularly the elderly, children, and pets.

Bucks County will have several cooling centers open throughout the region, including senior centers and public libraries. (Note, this list will be updated as new cooling centers are opened.)
